My name is David Moore, Retired USAF and welcome to my blog of the daily occurrences of relocating my family which includes my lovely wife and two children (3 others in college) from Anchorage AK to Ft Mill, SC. The posts will include the ins and outs of building a new home with developer Ryan Homes in South Carolina and doing so from 3000 miles away. There will also be posts about the normal stresses associated with moving like packing, getting rid of unneeded items, shipping, etc.
We had a notion 11 years ago that once I retired we would go back to the Last Frontier to settle and raise our family. Not a bad idea from onset; after all the schools are great, employment not bad, and the people of Anchorage are generally good people. Even with the long, cold and dark winters, it was still a great place to live. One thing that we may not have considered was the isolation you would have from family members living in the lower 48. It would be sometimes a couple of years in between visits to the ones you grow up with and love. This is the reason we have decided after that decision 11 years ago, that it is time to move back closer to home and family.
We have had a wonderful and blessed time in our most northern domicile, but it is time to move on and start a new chapter in a place with this new notion. We pray that we will be continually blessed as we have been in the last 11 years living here in Alaska.
Thanks for visiting my blog and God Bless!
